Deception Pass

Hyrum was away in Chicago for nearly two weeks so when he got back we were very excited to play together as a family. We took a Saturday adventure to Deception Pass. It is on the north part of Whidbey Island and it is beautiful. It was a wonderland for Scottie because there were tons of rocks and sticks to find and throw, driftwood logs to walk on, and tons of rocks to practice his climbing skills on. He is a little mountain goat. The weather was lots colder than we anticipated. Up on the pass we were freezing, luckily I had insisted on all of us bringing sweatshirts. Even more lucky, the wind blew back the clouds and the sun came out after we got there warming us up a bit, Hyrum even shed the sweatshirt at the end of the day.

Family Totem Pole: Deception Pass in the background. Deception pass got its name from Captain George Vancouver. He thought Whidbey Island was a peninsula, he was wrong.

This was no sandy beach, it was made up of lots of little pebbles. Pretty cool for rock collectors like Scottie. We came home with a rainbow of rocks.
