Ah summer, where have you gone?

Summer is technically over, though on our first day of "fall" it was 90 degrees. We had a great summer complete with lots of swimming, biking, playing in the dirt, and a trip to grandma's house. I didn't take a lot of pictures there but over Labor day we packed up the family and drove all the way to Idaho for a family visit. We stopped in Utah for a few days where we saw some family history sites in Bear River and Brigham City. Hyrum's dad, Scott Anderson number one, grew up in Bear River City and his grandfather lived in Brigham City so we enjoyed checking out the old homesteads and seeing the graves of family members. Then we went up to Idaho for some swimming in the river, playing with the cows, and bottling. We brought home bottled peaches, raspberry jam, and dried apricot leather. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa, and Katie and Josh for taking care of us. We had fun.

Soccer

Scottie is doing soccer this year. It is pretty cute to see a bunch of four year-olds running around the field. Scottie came up with the team name "The Flames" and they have won 2 out of 3 games. Scottie has scored 2 goals so overall he is feeling pretty good about life. I am not sure what is better, the game, the snacks, the new friends, or the shoes with bumps on them.

Scottie and two of his team mates on the field for their first game. Notice the most handsome, best referee in all of Albuquerque four year-old soccer.

Looking cool!

When you are this good looking, you have to wear shades. Also we are still basking in shades and onesies around here. Yesterday it was at least 90 degrees. Welcome fall!

Grant at 1 month

These pictures are 2 months old but they are too cute not to post. My friend Kristine took some wonderful photos of Grant at one month old.

Family Pictures

At Lucy's wedding in June our sister-in-law Katie took some great family photos. Here are some of our favorites. Thanks Katie! Our last favorite pictures were from her wedding so I guess someone else will need to get married for our next set.

Photography

Scottie is interested in photography recently. His favorite subjects are his toys and James. He will run off with the camera and later we find LOTS of new photos. Here are some of his good ones.

Our Garden

We had a rough start to our garden this year. We built some cool garden boxes and had some great starts going in our kitchen window, but after a crazy spring with freezing and even a snow day on May 1st we had quite a few casualties including most of our onions and all of our peas. We did finally get some things going though, and we have a nice potato, tomato, and beet crop going. I hope that our peppers will pull through as well. Scottie started a few radish seeds in preschool and they made it nicely and were our first harvest.
Did you ever see anyone so excited about radishes?

Scottie even ate one. He wanted to try the plant that he grew and continued eating it despite its "spiciness." A little salad dressing makes nearly anything edible.

Introducing Baby Grant

Baby Grant joined the family on Friday the 13th of May, 2011. He came at 5:44am and weighed in at a hefty 8lbs 5oz and 21.5 inches long. He is a champion eater, and sleeper, and has wrapped us around his tiny fingers.

Happy Mother's Day!

My three men spoiled me this Mother's Day. We went to church bright and early and then they came home and made me a delicious lunch.

Two of my chefs, notice my beautiful necklace Scottie made for me at preschool

The handsome chefs

After lunch we all did a little of this...
Then to finish off the night we had a really fun family bike ride and brownies and ice cream. The weather was perfect and it was a wonderful night. The only thing that could have made it better was spending it with my own mother and grandmother, and all the special women who have made my life what it is. Thanks! Love you.
